LEM (Chelonians, Islands, and stuff written on paper and other subjects)
Guest island, Sardinia. This year’s animal, the turtle, which
has been around the planet for 250 million years; by the way, another
island got its name. And this festival was born with the name of one
of the greatest writers of our time and the three letters have changed
their meaning in each edition of the festival. This year, the letters
will only form the name of the author of The investigation, and textuality
will cross the LEM like a shuttle full of potentiality: electronic literature,
Kurt Schwitters’ phonetic poetry, Boris Vian’s songs, Raymond
Carver, a line of French philosophers revisited by pop, Nietzsche playing
billiards with a contralto? Philip K. Dick’s sheep? Or is it Sardinian
pecorines? The Italian electronic music Marinetti would listen to today
(not Russolo, who was a painter). The to-day writing of Carlos Desastre
and Gianni Marilotti… The festival has made an important production effort (eight premières) and has tried to improve the conditions to enjoy the concerts, you’ll notice that and we hope that you’ll understand the (symbolic) price to some of them. Like every year, the LEM presents many artists for the first time in the city. Some of great historic importance, others unknown here and so, to be discovered urgently. Singular instruments, vocal experimentation, improvisation, electronica, audiovisuals.. also a broad look to Sardinia’s sound creation panorama; all that to conform a treasure island map of the music at the border of every music. It sums up to 40 shows with 157 artists in 13 spaces in the city. In a dry world washed by the oceans, the age, the clues, the allibies are over. If the turtle speaks, a millenium barely contains a single word. Come on and read… Gràcia Territori Sonor Team |
